A drive from Neelankarai to Central Station in 17 minutes, at 5am, only to find that the traffic snarl at the entrance of the station was probably going to take another 17 minutes to navigate!
So I decided to get down on the road outside, hand the car keys to Hans, and walk into the station through the auto rickshaw entrance in front. Within a couple of minutes, In realised that I had left my neck pillow and my jacket in the car.
Nothing to be done about that.
Rushed in, with heavy suitcases in tow, and backpack on my back. A few people offered to help but I politely declined.
Finding the platform and having to traverse almost the entire length, walking full tilt, dragging luggage, I got to the compartment, slightly out of breath, and then negotiated to exchange seats so that I was at the end, with one suitcase tucked behind the seats and the other next to me.
A pleasant enough train ride with masala tea and breakfast, I was in Bangalore by 10am.
Had a nice, relaxed day, at P&B’s place. Including a walk around the nearby lake.
After a nice wash and repacking of suitcases to take out another sweater to keep for when I land, B booked me a cab to the fabulous T2 terminal. I take it as a good sign that it rained.
Now waiting under Madhvi Subramanyam’s mural, for the JAL counters to open, I hear that the flight is delayed.
